Tippett, (Sir) Michael

(2 January 1905, London – 8 January 1998, London)
   Composer for the stage and concert hall who also wrote two oratorios: A Child of Our Time (1939–1941), a response to world conflict employing black spirituals; and The Vision of St. Augustine (1963–1965).
